Lewis E. Slate

A rich, new voice in storytelling has spoken. He sharpened his mind at Samford University and later drew inspiration from the layered rhythms and slow burn of tough work. He’s disciplined yet daring, introspective and intuitive.

Lewis grew up listening to the raw, unvarnished tales of older men in his family and community. Their stories stirred something in him. Now, he authors cinematic novels, steeped in suspense, with a ray of allegory. In doing so, he weaves a tradition forward. His emotionally charged debut, Let Me Be Good to You, is a lush, mystery romance that explores redemption, desire, and vengeance.

He’s an epicure, musicphile, and sports enthusiast, with an affinity for classic American muscle cars. Lewis draws inspiration from things that move him— literally and figuratively. Home, to him, is wherever his wife is.
